Ballycastle to Waterfoot Trail Marathon 2026

Race Details

The Ballycastle to Waterfoot Trail Marathon is a spectacular point-to-point trail race held on 22nd August 2026. Starting in Ballycastle and finishing in Waterfoot, Co. Antrim, the course takes runners through some of the finest trail terrain in Northern Ireland.

Route: From Ballycastle, the course climbs through Ballycastle Forest, over Slieveanorra and Trostan, through Glenariff Forest, before descending to finish at Waterfoot. Approximately 90% trail. The North Coast views are outstanding.

Logistics: Buses depart Waterfoot at approximately 8:00am to take runners to the Ballycastle start. Registration and number collection from 6:45am at Waterfoot. Race starts at 9:00am.

Navigation: Route is waymarked. A GPX file is provided — no additional navigation skills required, but a GPS device is recommended.

Mandatory Kit: Tracker (supplied), fully charged mobile phone, foil blanket, hat or bandana, waterproof jacket and trousers, gloves, water and food for the duration, water bottles or bladder, backpack.

Cut-off: 8 hours. Participants must be 18 or over.
