Race Details

The Newcastle Way Marathon takes place on Sunday, 5th October 2025 in Newcastle, County Down, following the scenic Newcastle Way, a well-marked trail. The marathon course starts close to Newcastle town centre, leading runners through Tollymore Forest, across Castlewellan Forest, down to Murlough, and through the National Trust Murlough Reserve, finishing along the beach at Newcastle. The event is self-sufficient—participants follow GPX files and carry their own provisions. No extra course markers are added. All finishers receive a bespoke medal, medical cover is provided throughout, and post-race refreshments are courtesy of Quinns Bar. The terrain includes forest tracks, rural roads and lanes, and some sand, making it suitable for trail and adventure runners.
