
Portumna Forest Marathon
Race Details
The Portumna Forest Marathon takes place in the beautiful surroundings of Portumna Forest Park and along the shores of Lough Derg, Co. Galway. The event offers marathon and half-marathon distances through scenic forest trails and lakeside roads.
Start times:
- Solo (marathon): 09:15
- Half Marathon: 10:00am (approx.)
- Cut-off: Marathon 7 hours, Half Marathon 4 hours
Course: The route runs through Coillte-managed forest trails. Surface quality is not guaranteed to be smooth. The event is held under Coillte and OPW approval.
Wheelchair-friendly: Wheelchair users and anyone wishing to take part with accessibility needs are welcome (18+ only). Self-sufficiency is required — bring spare equipment such as spare tyres and plasters. Please notify the organisers in advance.
Pacing devices & music players: Not recommended for safety reasons — marshals need to be able to direct you, and other runners/wheelchairs may approach from behind.
GPS: Heart rate monitors and GPS watches are permitted to track your progress.
Spectators: Welcome to support runners. Overnight camping is allowed in certain areas. Gazebos and tents are permitted in designated areas.
