Race Details

The Resolution Run 2026 is a fast and flat 5K road race that takes place on New Years Day 1st January 2026, at 10.15 a.m in Galway City Centre.

Start Time: 10:15am promptly at South Park

Race Number Pick-up: At the Claddagh Hall located right by the start line between 9am and 10am on the morning of the race

Race HQ: Claddagh Hall at South Park, Galway

Finish: Beside the park at Nimmo's Pier

AAI Certified: Yes - Permit cert no: 25/617

Entry Fee: €25.00 plus booking fee and AI levy (if applicable). A postal option is available for a limited period only at an additional cost.

Age Requirement: Over 16s only can enter

Course: The course routes through the City Centre, from the Claddagh, passing Wolfe Tone Bridge, Merchants Road and the Docks, and routing back out to Grattan Road and Fair Green Road, and then along South past into the finish at Nimmos Pier. The route passes most of the city's famous landmarks along the way. The race is AAI certified and there is a superb souvenir gift for all entrants.

What's Included: All entrants receive a souvenir Race Hat, refreshments after and an official chip time.

Categories: Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Male and Female Senior, V40, V50 and V60.

The route is suitable for runners of all abilities. It is a very flat and fast course.

Important Notes:

• The race is AAI certified and has been officially measured. All participants will have an official time.
• There will be toilets available but no changing or bag drop. Roads will not be closed for the event, however there will be either marshals or Guarda at all junctions to ensure your safety!
• The course will be marshalled for 50 minutes, and entry conditions are necessary for safety and logistics reasons.
