Race Details
The Royal Canal Run Longford Marathon takes place on Saturday 25th April 2026 along the Royal Canal in Longford. The course is a flat 5.2km loop on a mix of tarmac and tightly packed gravel — ideal for a fast time.
Start Times
- Wheelchair athletes & runners estimated 5hrs+: 8:30am
- Regular marathon start: 10:00am
Race HQ HQ opens from 7:00am. Allow at least 1 hour before your start time to collect your race number. A race brief takes place 30 minutes before each start at HQ, with a 10–15 minute walk to the start line.

Key Info
- Chip timed by Pop Up Races — results available immediately after finishing
- Pre-ordered T-shirts only; finisher medals for all
- No pacers
- No earphones permitted on the course
- Water station on each lap (coke, jellies, biscuits available too)
- Post-race: fruit, water, and a coffee truck with snacks (bring cash!)
- Bag drop available on course (at own risk)
- Portaloos at HQ and on course
- Course closes at 3:30pm
- No shower facilities; no physios on site
- Any registration changes on or after 15th April incur a €10 fee
Prizes 1st, 2nd & 3rd — male and female. Special award: Noel McGeeney Perpetual Cup for 1st local male in the Full Marathon.
